This Brown Bag session introduced the fundamentals of Boolean Search and how it can be used to create more focused, efficient, and accurate searches. The presentation walked participants through the history of Boolean logic, the building blocks of a query, common operators such as AND, OR, and NOT, and more advanced techniques including proximity searches, range operators, reserved words, and field-based searching. The goal of the session was to help learners move beyond basic keyword searches and build stronger search strategies that save time, reduce irrelevant results, and improve overall research productivity.
